Michael handles mainly large and complex losses due to machinery breakdown of power generators, steam and gas turbines, diesel engines, compressors, utilities and various production installations. Furthermore, he handles fire damages in a large variety of industrial companies and transportation losses to machinery. He joined Context in 2009, shortly after the start of the company.
He is responsible for all technical aspects of adjusting assignments. His contribution involved both root cause analyses and cost control with regard to repair methods and costs. Frequently, he finds creative solutions for seemingly non-solvable technical and procedural problems, helping both the claimant and the paying party. Michael is often nominated as court witness as well.
Since 2016 Michael is chairman of the ABBS (‘Amsterdamse Beurs Brand Sociëteit’).
After graduation from the Polytechnics Michael started his career at the Röntgen Technische Dienst in Rotterdam, where he accomplished tank inspections and non destructive testing for multinational companies and (nuclear-) power plants all over the world. Thereafter, at Stork FDO, he combined loss investigations, root cause analyses and non-destructive testing with an advisory role. During this position he completed the specialised education of Non Destructive Testing Engineer at the Hogeschool van Utrecht.
In 1999 Michael became senior loss adjuster at Cunningham Lindsey Nederland, specialised in technical fire, machinery breakdown and liability losses. Next to his work as an adjuster, Michael continued to study and research technical subjects. One of these studies resulted in the invention and patenting of several connection devices for form free lightweight composite constructions. Together with a partner, Michael started a production company for these devices in 2006 under the name Creative Constructions. In 2009 he transferred his shares in this company.
Michael is a Chartered Adjuster (NIVRE) and FUEDI-ELAE. He is fluent in Dutch (mother tongue), English and German.
