Marcel Revet, business interruption expert

Like a fish in water

Marcel joined Context in 2009. He handles property damage, cyber, inventory and goods damages and assists in product liability claims in almost every industry: wholesale, retail, services, production and transport. He also stands his ground in bodily injury claims where the revenue model of an entrepreneur comes up for discussion. In addition, he is regularly called in for 'Business Interruption Analyses' and 'Business Continuity Planning' for large, complex companies. Marcel is known for his professional knowledge, solution-orientation and pragmatism. He is also very analytical, for example, he has developed a number of important tools for the analysis of business loss claims. Thanks to these tools, the expected losses can be actively calculated, so that insurers can be kept accurately informed during the claims process.

Career in a nutshell

During his studies in Tax Law, Marcel started as a claims handler for an insurance company, before becoming a tax advisor at Price Waterhouse. He worked in Amsterdam and New York, where he mainly advised American clients with activities in Europe. Marcel subsequently joined Heineken, first as Tax Manager and later as Project Manager Business Development. He was co-responsible for acquisitions of breweries around the world and managed the due diligence teams and set up financing structures. In 2006 Marcel moved to Cunningham Lindsey as a business interruption expert and also held a management position within the property damage department. Marcel handled very large claims in the international industry. He worked for chemical companies, (public) transport companies, breweries, waste processors, electricity producers, storage and transhipment companies and hospitals. He also handled business losses after the earthquake in Greece and the hurricanes in the Caribbean. Marcel has been treasurer of the Rotterdam Beurs Brand Club (RBBC) since 2017.
